Explore Guatemala

Mysterious, colorful and delightfully different than its neighbors, Guatemala is Central America’s most diverse country…from its people to its landscapes. Living Maya culture is everywhere with vibrant traditional dress and indigenous traditions. The highland mountains that we trek along between Antigua and Lake Atitlán drop away into a sultry Pacific coast with endless black sand beaches, while the northern part of the country boasts Central America’s largest swath of tropical rainforest and the Mayan temples of Tikal that rise hundreds of feet above the jungle canopy.

We want you to come and trek with us, but we hope that doesn’t constitute the entirety of your visit. Upon arrival, give yourself a few days in Antigua to acclimate and explore the city’s ancient ruins, delicious food and quaint corners. Once you reach Lake Atitlán, reward yourself with a day or two of relaxation or explore one of the many Mayan villages that surround it.

For you adrenaline junkies, tack on some more adventure before or after the trek. Culture more your thing? You’ve come to the right place. For nature lovers we suggest a visit to Tikal or some quality birding. Those looking for a physical or mental recharge will find that Guatemala offers a number of yoga retreats as well as traditional and thermal spas. Or you could just find a nice hammock to call home for awhile.
